BHUTAN AT A GLANCE

Where is Dooars?

Bhutan is perhaps one of the most visited destinations in South Asia. It sits at the north-eastern side of Indian border and is blessed with a rich Himalayan environment. Due to the presence of a rocky terrain, setting up a railway system in Bhutan was rather difficult. You can fly into Bhutan and land into its only international airport, Paro Airport. Or you can land in India & enter Bhutan via road. The only road route that can take you inside Bhutan runs through the small Indian town of Jaigaon where plenty of vehicles are available.

What is it famous for?

This exotic country is famous for its ancient yet impressively preserved culture, an attractively simplistic lifestyle & its monasteries. The monks, monasteries, and mountains of Bhutan attract thousands of foreign tourists every year. Bhutan is famous for Tiger’s Nest, a monastery that hangs off a 9,000-meter tall cliff. People undertake thrilling treks up this destination. It is said that the view that awaits you up there cannot be put into words. Also, the fortresses known as Dzongs, backed up by snow-tipped peaks present a postcard-worthy picture.

How is the ambiance?

The ambiance of Bhutan welcomes you with tranquil. The air wafts of unique fragrances and peace, as the monks wander around the monastery premises with burning incense chanting in faith. You will find the locals dressed in colorful traditional attires during everyday lives, as their attires become more colorful and striking during religious festivals called Tsechu. During Tsechu, local artists & monks adorn fearsome masks and perform. It is undoubtedly a treat to the eyes. Bhutan is a melee of mythologies, impressive artwork, and serenity.
